After one whole year of taking a breaking from writing I am breaking my silence and kicking the year off with Healthy Hedonism.
How are you easing into the new year?
I ended 2022 in south India with family - a tradition I have maintained for over 15 years now. That is as long as I have been living away from India. That is us crammed in a tuk tuk!
Holiday festivities now behind us, Jan was off to a bumpy start - I have been tempted to hit snooze, skip my Yoga practice and stay in bed all morning, one out of two friends is down down with a flu…you get the drift!
Sunlight, temperature, humidity…have an impact on our body and mind in more ways than we might be aware of. You know what I’m talking about if in winter you have trouble getting out of bed, crave sweets, feel low or foggy headed.
This is precisely what modern medicine calls Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) - winter blues as we might know it.
Wellbeing is then a balancing act between how we eat, sleep, work and play. Yoga and its sister science Ayurveda show us practical and pleasurable ways to achieve it and beat the winter blues.
